Filipino fishermen go home from Scarborough Shoal with bountiful catch

Days after the much anticipated trip of President Duterte to China, Filipino fishermen have claimed that they can now go fishing in the resource-rich Bajo de Masinloc also known as Scarborough Shoal.

Fishermen were seen boasting their big catch of LapuLapu caught inside the Bajo de Masinloc off the Coast of Zambales. After news that the Chinese coast guard had left the disputed waters resulting from the State Visit of President Duterte in China.

President Duterte's diplomatic strategy is bearing fruit especially for the poor fisher folks of Iba Zambales who had long been deprived of rich fishing grounds resulting from deteriorating diplomatic ties with China from the previous administration.
In a FB post of Rafael Alunan III, a stout supporter of the President, he wrote:

"The smiles say it all. I'm glad to see our artisanal fishermen back in Bajo de Masinloc without any interference, and coming home with all the fish they can get on their boats. Is this a temporary or permanent situation? Lord only knows, but smart diplomacy will be of great help."

Indeed diplomacy and dialogue bear better fruits than confrontation and conflicts. To the poor citizens of Zambales to return to their livelihood is the only thing that matters. To provide their families with basic needs is a major fulfillment.
