'Duterte's Kitchen' opens to provide free meals to poor Filipinos

In an effort to reach out and aid the poorest communities in the country, the ruling Partido Demokratikong Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) launched a food kitchen in Cubao, Quezon City.
According to PDP-Laban national executive Director Glen Badon, Duterte's Kitchen is the brainchild of House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, in accordance with President Rodrigo Duterte’s advocacy to feed the poor.

The recently opened Duterte's Kitchen, located near MRT Cubao Station, can be found between Farmer's Plaza mall and the Social Security System Building.

The kitchen offers food for the three major meals of the day - breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It aims to feed 50 to 70 people, young and old, everyday.
The food varies, from free “lugaw” or rice porridge to champorado or chocolate rice porridge for breakfast and rice meal with vegetables, fish, adobong manok and baboy during lunch and dinner.

Aside from being a feeding center, the place also doubles as a learning center, where children can also learn how to read and write from the volunteers.

Badon also clarified that the food mostly come from donations, and the staff are all volunteers whose advocacy is to "bring hope and inspiration" to the underprivileged.

As of press time, Duterte's Kitchen is still on the lookout for volunteers and donors, that will help further their cause.
