'Bukas n'yo na ako hulihin!' Netizens react on De Lima's plea for special treatment - by Siena Luchansky

Philippine politics is a big circus.

Criminals get away with crimes and what's more depressing is they use the law to save their asses.

Just like Leila De Lima, the lady senator who is being accused of receiving money from drug syndicates and used it to fund her candidacy in the last senatorial elections.

The Justice department charged her not long ago and the court, earlier today, has ruled out that it has found 'sufficient probable cause' for the arrest of De Lima.
Just this evening, PNP CIDG went to De Lima's house to serve the arrest warrant only to find out that she was not there.

Apparently, she has left for the senate even before the court officers could enter the premises of the subdivision wherein she lives.

Oh, sneaky De Lima.

Upon learning that, the officers immediately left and went to senate.

At the senate, De Lima held a press conference wherein she announced her plea for the PNP CIDG.
So 'wag ho nilang pilitin 'yan.

The senate sergeant at arms heard her plea and talked to the arresting officers. They eventually reached an agreement to allow De Lima to spend the night with her family and set her arrest in morning of the next day. It was set at 10am, February 24th.

This whole spectacle left many Filipinos, including myself, baffled. WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED? IS THAT EVEN LEGAL? I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT JUST HAPPENED.

Obviously, I'm ignorant on laws that govern the procedures so I can't really explain what the fuck just happened. I'll leave the explanation to those who are in-the-know.

As expected, many Filipinos took to social media to air their detestation on De Lima's action. Who the hell she thinks she is that she has the right to be given special treatment?

What the actual fuck?

Anyway, if you've found the earlier events weird and very abominable, you are not alone.

Here are some of the reactions we have gathered from the internet.
