Duterte himself wore a boy scouts uniform when he graced the Baden Powell Day or founder’s day of the Boy Scouts held in Malacañang.

Republic Act No. 728 mandates that the president of the Philippines shall be the chief scout of the organization.

President Rodrigo Duterte gave a challenging but inspiring message to around 200 grade schoolers during his investiture/installation as Chief Boy Scout in ceremonies at Malacañang Palace this afternoon :

"Who wants to become a soldier? Are you ready to join the ROTC? Who wants to join the PMA? Are you ready to become a soldier and die for our country?"

"Always love your country because we only have one country."
