NGO volunteers slam Leni Robredo for credit-grabbing

A netizen claimed that the ‘Angat Buhay’ program, which boasted by the Office of the Vice President (OVP) to help 155,000 families in the first two years of Leni Robredo didn’t spend government funds.

In his Facebook post, Nards Cervantes investigated some of the posts of the OVP about their key program and he discovered that some of the activities that they posted on Facebook were not under the Angat Buhay Program, but part of a welfare program of other organizations.

Cervantes, reposted the social media post of Hayden U. Sison, claiming that the boats have given away by the Vice President to the fishermen in Mindoro are not funded by the “Angat Buhay” and the money came from the alumni Saint Theresa’s College of Quezon City.

According to Sison, the Theresians who became part of the project for the Mindoro fishermen questioned why there’s an “Angat Buhay” logo embedded in the boats that they funded while the OVP didn’t even contribute in their fundraising.

Sison said that the Theresians raised 300,000 for the fishermen and allegedly donated it to the OVP.

In his second post, Cervantes revealed that the cleft-palate operations which according to the OVP was funded by Angat Buhay program were not really financially supported by the camp of Robredo.

According to his post, the operations was an effort by private doctors, nurses, and volunteers, but the OVP are claiming that they’re a key partner of the operation.

Some volunteers also claimed that Vice President Leni Robredo only went to visit and witness the Operation Smile during the last day of the program and she only stayed there for an hour just for a photo opportunity.

Netizen Raymond James Garlan, one of the volunteers of Operation Smile said that the OVP should credit the right people because they’re the one who spent a whole week just to help the people who need a cleft-palate operation.

Melva Dutallas, who financially supported the Operation Smile every month also expressed her disappointment after she saw that the OVP took credit of the said welfare program.

“I can personally attest that Operation Smile is an international privately funded Foundation in partnership with kind hearted personal donors!.. FYI. My family are Dual Citizens and live here here in Canada for decades… and its been 5 yrs now that we donated to this noble cause and my credit card automatically deduct $20 evrery month that will go straight to Operation Smile Foundation!…That FAKE Lugaw have the gall to claim that it partnered with OVP! NAKAKAHIYA ANG GAGA!.. Go figure check Operation Smile website if what kind of organization they are!… They are operating all over the world and never mentioned that its because of the generosity of Lugaw! Hayop na sinungaling pa!…” Melva Dutallas said.

The Office of the Vice President is yet to issue a statement regarding the issue.
