Zero Hospital Bill: Needs financial assistance? Head over to a Malasakit Center to get help

Malasakit Center to ease complicated medical assistance process, says SAP
Residents who need financial assistance to shoulder the costs of expensive medical services need only to go to one place, announced Special Assistant to President Rodrigo Duterte (SAP) Secretary Christopher “Bong” Go to ZamboangueƱos last night (October 1) during the opening salvo of the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival.

Go shared presently, when a person needs assistance for medical services, he will have to spend a lot of time visiting different offices, repetitively filling up documents and submitting requirements.

“It’s very confusing when it should be very easy,” Go said.

Go announced before the year ends when a government hospital with all the necessary facilities has been identified in the city, this “Malasakit Center” will already be operational.

“This will be a one-stop shop that will solve all medical-related needs. You won’t have to visit different offices to get assistance,” he explained.

In this proposed Malasakit Center, the services and paperwork for medical assistance from different offices like the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Department of Health (DOH), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PHILHEALTH) and others will be unified.

Further, Go said the Malasakit Center will do away with tedious documentary requirements.

“There will only be one requirement -- you just have to be a Filipino,” he clarified.

The Center will give priority services for the senior citizens and persons with disabilities. “Malasakit” is Tagalog for concern. (ALT/DIS/PIA9-Zamboanga City)
