Siargao wedding only used materials naturally found on the island and pulled off this elegant wedding ceremony

A wedding organizer based in Siargao Island pulled off an elegant wedding ceremony by only using materials found on the island last February 17, 2020.

According to Arniell Oclida, the bride and the groom are both nature lovers so they decided to showcase the beauty of the island on their wedding day.

Since Siargao is home to hundreds of coconut trees, Oclida used dried coco leaves in creating the backdrop for the ceremony. For the table runners, he opted for dried and fresh banana leaves.

“As the island’s wedding planner, one of my advocacies is to preserve the island. I want something new and organic [and use materials that are] naturally found on the island,” he said.

To give the venue a more rustic vibe, he used fresh twine leaves, nipa palm fruit, tropical leaves, dried flowers and native crates and basket.

“Maybe it's nothing but I will make it into something. Kailangan mo talagang bigyan ng buhay ang isang bagay na akala ng [nakakarami ay] wala nang halaga,” he added.
