MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Friday registered 24 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections among Filipinos abroad, bringing the tally to 2,845.

The total number of recoveries also increased to 947 after 11 new recoveries were logged on May 29.

Meanwhile, six new fatalities were recorded in Europe and the Middle East, bringing the death toll to 340 – two in the Asia-Pacific region, 91 in Europe, 97 in the Middle East/Africa, and 150 in the Americas.

Currently, 1,558 overseas Filipino Covid-19 patients are undergoing treatment.

"The DFA personnel in our foreign service posts continue to actively monitor the status of the Filipino community abroad and work to safely repatriate more of our stranded nationals home," the DFA said.

As of May 28, more than 30,000 Filipinos have returned to the Philippines amid the health crisis, 10,403 of whom are land-based workers while 20,138 are seafarers from 97 cruise ships. (PNA)
